If you’re willing to swap a flat walk for a little more of a climb, the views from the top are well worth it. On a clear day you can see for miles across the surrounding countryside, and it’s one of those places that reminds you just how much open space we have here in Cavan. It’s hard not to stop for a few minutes and simply take it all in. Those are exactly the sort of moments people are sharing online now.
Not five-star luxury for the sake of it. Not crowded tourist attractions. Just genuine experiences that make people think, “I’d love to be there.”

Walking or cycling through the forest with Lough Oughter never too far away is one of those experiences that reminds you why Cavan is known as the Lakeland County.
Of course, not every great day out has to involve walking boots.
Virginia is only a short drive away and always makes for a lovely afternoon. A walk through Deerpark Forest, time spent beside Lough Ramor and a wander around the town before stopping for coffee is often all people are looking for. No rushing. No queues. Just enjoying wherever the day takes you. That’s probably what surprises our guests the most.
People often arrive knowing very little about County Cavan. By the time they’re checking out, they’re asking us what they should come back and see next time because they didn’t manage to fit everything in.
