What’s Happening in Bailieborough & Cavan for St Patrick’s Day 2026

Bailieborough St Patrick’s Day Parade

The highlight of the day locally is the annual parade in Bailieborough, which kicks off at 2:30pm on March 17th and promises a lively afternoon for all ages.

This family-friendly event is known for its creativity and humour, with local groups, clubs, businesses and organisations all taking part in colourful floats and costumes.

Expect to see:

  • Comedy floats and fancy dress entries

  • Vintage tractors, cars and local clubs

  • Marching bands and music

  • Community groups and sports clubs

  • Prizes for the best parade entries

One of the most popular features each year is the prize for the best comedy float, which always encourages imaginative and entertaining entries.

Road closures will be in place through the town centre from 1pm to 5pm to accommodate the parade route along Barrack Street and Main Street.

Celebrations Across County Cavan

While Bailieborough hosts a brilliant parade, celebrations will be happening all across the county, making it easy to enjoy the festivities wherever you are.

Across County Cavan, a number of towns will host their own parades throughout the day, each with its own local flavour and community spirit.

Some highlights include:

The county’s main parade takes place in Cavan Town and features vibrant floats, local organisations, music and a lively atmosphere throughout the town centre.

A Day for Community and Celebration

One of the best things about St Patrick’s Day in County Cavan is how community-driven the celebrations are. Local volunteers, clubs and businesses all play an important role in organising the parades and bringing towns together for a day of fun and pride.

From tractors and marching bands to creative costumes and comedy floats, these parades celebrate everything that makes local communities special.

Whether you’re watching the parade in Bailieborough, visiting nearby towns, or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere, it’s a great way to celebrate Irish culture and community spirit.

We wish you an enjoyable one from all at The Bailie Hotel!
